Job Description:

Diagnose and treat problems with the patient teeth, gums, and related parts of the mouth. Provide advice and instruction on taking care of the teeth and gums and on diet choices that affect oral health. As the Dentist, responsible for the following duties: Diagnosing oral diseases. Examine x-rays and interpret diagnostic tests of teeth, gums, the jaw, and nearby areas in order to diagnose problems. Remove decay from teeth and fill cavities. Repair cracked or fractured teeth and remove teeth. Place sealants or whitening agents on teeth. Administer anesthetics to keep patients from feeling pain during procedures. Performing surgical procedures on the teeth, bone, and soft tissues of the oral cavity. Prescribe antibiotics or other medications. Monitoring growth and development of the teeth and jaws. Make models and measurements for dental appliances, such as dentures, to fit patients. Promoting oral health and disease prevention. Creating treatment plans to maintain or restore the oral health of their patients. Teach patients about diets, flossing, the use of fluoride, and other aspects of dental care. As the Dentist, conduct client appointments and examinations. Diagnose and prescribe treatment plans to clients. Responsible for case management and client education. Mentor, train, and develop all dental paraprofessionals. Required to be licensed as a Dentist in the state of Texas and have at minimum a Doctorate Degree in Dental Surgery (DDS), Dental Medicine (DDM), or Medical Dentistry (DMD) or a foreign equivalent.
